Wycombe's loss to Cardiff this weekend leaves them doomed to league 1 next season. They sit 6 points adrift of Derby with two to play, but would need a 13 goal swing to level the goal difference - an impossible task.

The club tweeted in support of the players, expressing pride in a team who were not given much of a chance to survive before the season kicked off, but who have fought bravely on to within the final two games, including a late resurgence which saw them cut their 12 point deficit in half.

Their performance this season was epitomised by the late goal scored by iconic talisman Akinfenwa, who at 38 years old scored his first ever goal in the championship.
It has been a historic season for Wycombe, who have never played football at this level before, and who gave a good account of themselves over the course of the season.
The club have opted to stick with current manager Gareth Ainsworth, who secured consecutive promotions to league 1 in 2018, and then to the Championship shortly after in 2020.
