After two seasons away from their home town, Coventry City will finally leave Birmingham City’s St. Andrew’s from next season and return back to playing at Ricoh Arena, according to Sky Sports.
The FA Cup 1987 winners were kicked out of Ricoh Arena in 2019 after the stadium was sold to rugby union side Wasps in 2014.
Birmingham City then offered St. Andrew’s as a substitute home venue for Coventry, by allowing them to play one week out of two, alternating with the Blues.
The tough negotiations with the Wasps have lasted more than a year but an agreement has finally been reached, which will allow Coventry City to play at Ricoh Arena for the next 10 seasons, subject to the English Football League approval.
Sky Sports also reports the deal to be officially announced on Friday, two years after Coventry City’s last game in their hometown.
Birmingham City will receive a financial compensation for the early break in clause.
